Role and responsibilities
For development of the Netherlands' public ENUM zone, SIDN has established a separate organisation: the ENUM Foundation of the Netherlands (ENUM NL). This has been done to separate any business risks that may be associated with the ENUM domain from any linked to the .nl domain. Risk isolation is in the interests of both .nl users and ENUM users. Although it is a legally distinct entity, ENUM NL enjoys SIDN's strong support. The knowledge, expertise and infrastructure available within SIDN are utilised to the best possible effect on behalf of ENUM NL.
ENUM NL in an independent not-for-profit organisation. Since October 2006, ENUM NL has managed the Dutch ENUM zone and held ultimate responsibility for the further introduction of ENUM in the Netherlands.
As the registry for ENUM in the Netherlands, ENUM NL manages the ENUM zone and its authoritative name servers. ENUM NL is also responsible for managing the name servers for the 1.3.e164.arpa zone, for registering names within its domain and for entering delegations to those zones within the DNS.
